Christie Watson trained as a paediatric nurse at Great Ormond Street Hospital, and worked as a nurse, educator and senior sister for over ten years before joining UEA for her MA in Creative Writing, where she won the Malcolm Bradbury Bursary. Her first book, Tiny Sunbirds Far Away, won the Costa First Novel Award. She was also the winner of a Red's Hot Women Award in 2012. Christie's second novel, Where Women Are Kings, was published in October 2013.
