David Gilman was born in Northampton and grew up in England and Wales. As a teenager he moved to South Africa with his family and has since lived all over the world before settling in Devonshire. Among other jobs he has worked as a fire-fighter, photographer, soldier, window-dresser and a screen writer. From 2000 – 2009 he was the principal writer on A Touch of Frost. As a novelist he wrote the Danger Zone, an action adventure series for 8-14 year olds before turning to adult historical fiction in 2013. Master of War is the first in a new series.
