Horatio Clare

Horatio Clare is the author of two memoirs, the best-seller Running for the Hills and Truant; the travel book A Single Swallow - which follows the birds' migration from South Africa to the UK - and a novella, one of the New Tales from the Mabinogion, The Prince's Pen. His new book, Down to the Sea In Ships, published in January 2014, is based on voyages around the world on cargo vessels. Variously a journalist, teacher, radio producer, lecturer and broadcaster, Horatio wrote and edited Sicily Through Writers' Eyes and has contributed to various anthologies, including Meetings With Remarkable Muslims, Marrakech Red City, and Ox-Tales: Meetings With Remarkable Travel Writers. His essays and features are regularly published in the international press - he writes regularly on nature for The Daily Telegraph and on travel for The Financial Times and Conde Nast Traveller. Horatio's books have been listed for numerous prizes: he was awarded the Somerset Maugham prize by the Society of Authors, and is a Foreign Press Association Travel Writer of the Year.
