Dea Brøvig moved to the UK from Norway just before her seventeenth birthday. She started reading Japanese at the Queen's College, Oxford, but left after a year to live above an ice cream parlour in Edinburgh and to study Italian in Florence. After graduating from Leeds University in 2000, she worked in publishing for eight years, first as Editorial Assistant for The Erotic Review magazine and - via several other roles - finally as a Foreign Rights literary agent. She graduated from UEA's MA in Creative Writing in 2009. Dea has lived in nine countries, thirteen cities, three houses, twenty-three flats and on one canal boat. The Last Boat Home is her first novel.
