After months of hard work and discussion, the process of publishing MIR8 has taken another turn: the work is now out of our hands; the short stories are with the copy-editor and soon we'll have typeset proofs to show our contributors.
It's all part of the long process of editing and producing a book, but sending the stories to the copy editor felt like sending a son or daughter to school for the first time. It feels strange to let go of something so close to our hearts, but that is the way of the world.
At this point, there are still many things to attend to, but it is rather quiet, compared to a few months ago.
However, this does not mean that there is no news. In fact we have an official and important announcement to make: The Mechanics' Institute Review, Issue 8, has a launch date: 27 September.
The location of the launch party is yet to be considered, but put this date in your diaries, iPhones, paranoid Androids and other similar contraptions. Let’s all celebrate literature and another issue of this champion of new fiction.
