MIR12: Opportunity to be on the Editorial Team

The Mechanics’ Institute Review needs you!

This year’s issue of The Mechanics’ Institute Review (MIR) is again being produced by students and staff out of love rather than for course assessment, which means we are looking for volunteers to help with the selection and editing of submitted work and with various admin and publicity tasks.

You will need to be available to read and select submissions in February and March; to edit in March and April; and to come to a few meetings as and when in the summer term and holiday.

If you have previously edited MIR, all the better – we’d love to hear from you.

You get to be involved in the production of a book, sharpen your editorial skills and learn about the publishing process. The only proviso is that volunteers can’t submit their own work for this year’s issue. However, you will be offered the opportunity to have your work copy-edited.

We’ll be having an initial meeting at 6pm on 20 January 2015, room tba.

If you are interested in being a member of the MIR12 editorial team, please email Julia Bell at MIR.Birkbeck@gmail.com by 15 December 2014 with the subject heading “MIR12”.

Thank you!

Julia Bell and Sue Tyley
