This is a useful site with a mutitude of links to new websites for writers - I’m especially fond of the writer who has taken up taxi driving and is now blogging about it.


2. The Believer

Published by McSweeney’s out of San Francisco this very cool magazine comments on everything from DJ Shadow to poet and philosopher Rebecca Solnit.


3. 826 Valencia

The Pirate Writing Store. Oh yes.


4. New Yorker Podcasts

An aural treat for your ipod. Tobias Wolff, Nathan Englander, Jhumpa Lahiri, E. L. Doctorow among many others read favourite stories.


5. Dictionary.com

Where would I be without thee?


6. Arvon Foundation

Residential writing courses in four beautiful locations. A huge range of courses and insipring tutors.


7.Shakespeare and Company

The most famous bookshop in Paris.


8. Colum McCann

Let the Great World Spin - my favourite book of 2009 and his website is cool too.


9. Stavros Melissinos

This guy will make your sandals and then read you poetry while he fits them. Apprently the Beatles shopped here. Check him out if you’re ever in Athens.


10. Tindal Street Press

Just scored another prize with Beauty by Raphael Selbourne. This small press from Birmingham is ten years old.


11. One Sentence Short Stories

True stories, told in one sentence: endless ideas worth stealing.
