Hubbub - May 2012

You are invited to join us at the next Hubbub for a Writers' Hub hullabaloo and literary brouhaha.

Our special guests readers for this event are Martina Evans and Benjamin Wood:

Martina Evans is an Irish poet and novelist. She has published three novels and her fourth poetry collection, Facing the Public (2009) was a TLS Book of the Year and received the 2011 Premio Ciampi International Poetry Prize. Petrol, a verse novel, was recipient of a Grants for the Arts Award in 2010 and will be published in September 2012. She is Royal Literary Fund Fellow at Queen Mary, University of London.

Benjamin Wood is a Lecturer in Creative Writing at Birkbeck. In 2004, he was awarded a Commonwealth Scholarship to attend the MFA Creative Writing Programme at the University of British Columbia, Canada, where he was also fiction editor of the Canadian literary journal PRISM International. His debut novel, The Bellwether Revivals, was published this year by Simon & Schuster (UK & Commonwealth); Viking Penguin (USA); and McClelland & Stewart (Canada).

They will be joined by Birkbeck students reading from their own writing. Our selected readers for this event are: Jacquie Bloese, Damien Doorley, Susan Greenhill, Ruth Livingstone and Clarissa Tan.

Hubbub will take place on Monday 14 May, 7:30 pm at the Kings' Cross Social Club 2 Britannia Street, London, WC1X 9JE. It is a five minute walk from King's Cross Station - walk east along Pentonville Road, keep right into Kings Cross Road and the King's Cross Social Club is on the right, on the corner of Britannia Street.

Entrance is free but with a suggested donation of £3 towards the running of future events. There will also be a book table.

Looking forward to seeing you all there!
